   Charleston County’s flood insurance discount rises to 35% in high-risk areas

   FEMA’s Community Rating System moved the county to Class 3, a rating the county says puts it in the top 1% of participating communities nationwide. Policyholders get the savings at renewal.

   Martha Lou’s Kitchen has closed after 37 years on Morrison Drive

   The soul food restaurant that chefs and food writers made famous shut down Sept. 1 after its pink building was sold. The family will keep catering and may reopen elsewhere.
