Gnosis Freight, a Charleston company that makes software for managing shipping containers, ranked No. 21 on FreightWaves’ 2027 FreightTech 25, the trade publication’s list of the most innovative companies in freight technology.
FreightWaves announced the rankings Oct. 26 at its F3 Awards Dinner in Chattanooga, Tennessee. An independent panel of industry executives, investors and academics picks the 25 from the publication’s larger FreightTech 100, Gnosis said in a Nov. 2 announcement.
The company’s software helps shippers, logistics companies, ocean carriers and railroads resolve problems with shipments, coordinate moves, audit charges and process payments, and its flagship product, Container Lifecycle Management, tracks containerized shipments from start to finish, according to Gnosis. It has built direct connections with Class I railroads and ocean carriers, and a payment portal it runs with PayCargo automates demurrage and detention payments and the release of containers, the company said.
Since 2021, Gnosis has tracked and helped manage more than 15 million container journeys, it said. Five of the 10 largest U.S. importers use its software, as do more than 30% of the top 100, according to the company. Gary M. Adams, Walmart’s former head of global logistics, joined its board in April.
“Our focus is on building software that helps people get freight work done, with measurable results for their operations,” Chief Technology Officer Jake Hoffman said in the announcement.
Austin McCombs is the company’s co-founder and CEO. In September 2024, Gnosis took a strategic growth investment of undisclosed size from Vista Equity Partners’ Endeavor Fund, the company said at the time.
Earlier that year, Gnosis said it would invest $438,500 and add 51 jobs as it expanded its office in the Charleston Tech Center to 7,000 square feet, WCSC-TV reported.
