A new all-day bistro was set to open Nov. 5 on Broad Street in downtown Charleston.

Quarter French occupies 40 Broad St., the former Brown Dog Deli space, The Post and Courier reported. Mike and Kathleen Shuler, who own Blind Tiger Pub next door, are opening it with business partner Nathan Wheeler, a sommelier who runs the wine program.

The restaurant describes itself on its website as a “French-ish” all-day cafe and bistro. Chef Ted Jackson, who opened Ted & Honey in Brooklyn and has appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped,” leads the kitchen, according to the newspaper.

Breakfast brings pastries and a coffee program. Lunch includes salad Lyonnaise, a muffuletta and chicken francese. Opening dinner dishes include blue crab gougeres, crispy curry duck and an Iberico pork chop au poivre, The Post and Courier reported.

The restaurant will be open Thursday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., with daily service planned for 2027. It takes walk-ins and reservations through Resy.

Julia F. Martin Architects and Archer Construction spent three years designing and building the space, the newspaper reported. Behind the dining room is a climate-controlled courtyard with a fully retractable roof. The Post and Courier reported in December 2025 that it would seat 56.

That December, the owners were aiming for a spring 2026 opening, according to the newspaper.

“We couldn’t resist an opportunity to bring something exciting and new to Broad Street,” Mike Shuler told The Post and Courier.

The Shulers live in the neighborhood, the newspaper reported.

“We live here. We see who’s on the street at what time of day,” Shuler told the newspaper.
